We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Distributed Systems Engineer to join our Data Platform team at Netflix. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our large-scale distributed systems infrastructure, enabling us to deliver delight to our members worldwide.

As a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing our infrastructure, working on complex projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth. Focus Areas:
- Database Access Platform: Build and operate a scalable query gateway that enables sub-millisecond latencies, allowing Netflix microservices to store, consume, and manage their data efficiently.
- Data Platform Infrastructure: Develop high-impact frameworks, tools, and deployment systems that enable Netflix to rapidly innovate and provide cutting-edge data and analytics systems to the rest of the organization.
- Big Data Compute: Provide a cloud-native platform for distributed data processing, supporting batch and real-time data processing, and collaborating with open-source communities to shape the future of big data technologies.
- Big Data Orchestration: Offer a platform for designing, scheduling, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve manner, using cutting-edge technologies and event-driven architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed systems infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and TPMs
- Contribute to open-source communities and Netflix OSS
- Drive cross-functional initiatives and work with engineers, product managers, and TPMs across teams
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems features or applications
- Proficient in designing and developing RESTful web services
- Experienced in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
- Proficient in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Comfortable with multi-threading and concurrency
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
