Immediate Opening for a Cost Accountant β (REMOTE with 1 week onsite in Irvine, CA paid by company) SNAPSHOT! Are you a hands-on cost accountant who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments? This exciting opportunity is with a defense and aerospace-focused manufacturer known for its innovative approach. Youβll work directly with the Senior VP of Finance and collaborate across operations, engineering, and corporate teams β with plenty of room to grow within the broader organization nationwide. Key Responsibilities Include: β’ Maintain products cost roll ups (CRU) and monitor cost fluctuations resulting from implemented bill of materials (BOMs) updates. β’ Analyze weekly material variances and COGS fluctuations. β’ Prepare detailed inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports and reconcile inventory accounts. β’ Maintain monthly estimates for inventory in transit from inter-companies and reconcile the ledgers. β’ Calculate monthly profit elimination on inter-company related inventories and report to Corporate for consolidation. β’ Review cycle count adjustments and any discrepancies, ensuring inventory discrepancies are addressed and updated in the system β’ Reconcile inventory discrepancies in remote warehouses with customer consumption and ERP data β’ Conduct monthly variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, and manufacturing variances). β’ Conduct monthly variance analysis for G&A expenses against budget and forecast β’ Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost savings. β’ Support monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounting. β’ Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation (E&O), analyzing inventory for risk. β’ Analyze work-in-process (WIP) and resolve outstanding issues related to open jobs. β’ Assist with audits by providing required documentation and analysis. β’ Participate in the annual budgeting process, particularly as it relates to manufacturing costs. β’ Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting principles related to cost accounting. β’ Provide ad hoc financial and operational analysis to support business initiatives. Experience & Qualifications: β’ A bachelorβs degree in finance or accounting. β’ 3+ years of experience in cost accounting. β’ Excellent communication and presentation skills in discussing financial reports. β’ Ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment. β’ Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and cost accounting standards. β’ Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems β’ Advanced Excel skills β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
