DESCRIPTION:
Applicants must live within driving distance to Fairfield County, Ohio.
A 988/Crisis Line Operator provides immediate support, intervention, and referrals to individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health crises, or other urgent personal challenges. This role involves answering incoming calls from individuals seeking help, listening empathetically, assessing safety and suicide risk, and connecting individuals to appropriate resources.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage with consumers, and identify presenting problems, needs, and service preferences in a compassionate, non-judgmental, and professional manner
- Gather information on caller needs by allowing them to share their story and process their feelings actively engaging and exploring the caller’s situation
- Assist consumers through crisis, and behavioral health support for various life difficulties
- Complete safety and risk assessments, safety planning, and offer 3rd party outbound or follow-up calls to ensure an individual’s safety and consult with supervisors as needed
- Assist individuals in exploring new coping mechanisms, healthy hobbies, or relaxation techniques
- Set and maintain appropriate boundaries with callers/texters as needed
- Use de-escalation techniques with consumers who are angry without indicating any type of emotional reaction
- Offer and complete follow-up with contacts in vulnerable or dangerous situations, advocate for contacts in need of services, and/or may need additional support to link to mental health or addiction services
- Provide resources, brainstorm available options, and provide warm transfers when possible
- Assess the need community referrals and utilize resource database for these referrals.
- Attend all required meetings
- Maintain timely and complete documentation of services and activities, which meet the standards of the agency and accrediting agencies
- Maintain confidentiality of contacts and conduct all interactions with or on behalf of contacts in accordance with the Confidentiality Policy, Consumer Rights Policy, and Code of Ethics
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available to work weekday (M-Th 4:00 p.m. – 8:00a.m. and weekend shifts (Friday 4:00 p.m. – Monday 8:00 a.m.).
· Minimum High School Diploma, experience/background in mental health/recovery services and/or crisis/Information & Referral hotline experience preferred
· Experience in providing excellent customer service
· Able to utilize various forms of computer technology
· Ability to work independently and work as part of a team
· Critical thinking skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to be professional, personable, empathetic, non-judgmental, and work effectively with people from various cultural, economic, and social backgrounds
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm in stressful situations
· Motivated, hardworking, interested in making a difference in our community, and enjoys working in a crisis/helping environment
Pay: $600.00 - $1,200.00 per month
