About the Position A Doctoral Faculty Manager (DFM) oversees the overall instructional and academic excellence of faculty in their respective doctoral program/content area at the College of Doctoral Studies (CDS). An individual collaborates with the Associate Deans and various stakeholders to supervise faculty and assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of strategies around the faculty lifecycle and ensuring the quality and integrity of the instruction of the college’s programs and other educational offerings. What You’ll Do: Oversee all faculty supervision activities within the designated content area and the college. This includes tasks related to the direct supervision of staff and associate faculty, such as selecting, mentoring, coaching, recognizing, evaluating, and developing. Ensure that faculty deliver course content effectively, with a strong focus on enhancing student engagement, performance, and success. Assist with the development of strategies in the faculty lifecycle to improve faculty engagement and support. Support, execute, and implement the college’s strategies for faculty. Establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance discussions, including one-on-one meetings and quarterly check-ins; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or corrective action, where appropriate. May teach within the program curricula for online, and dissertation classes based on College needs; effectively use a mentor/coach approach to build productive educational relationships with students. Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and developing an annual personal research agenda that includes publication or presentation to a larger academic community.; maintain a general knowledge of emerging issues and trends related to respective academic program(s) and doctoral studies. Maintain a home office environment, if working remotely, that is conducive to professionalism and student privacy, with capability of video conferencing for all CDS meetings. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of program faculty MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: DFM - Educational Leadership (EDD) Doctoral degree in a field related to the content of the academic program, as described Five (5) years of proven experience in a field related to the content of the academic program, as described below Must remain a University of Phoenix faculty member in good standing within the designated college ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development and academic content area Proven experience as a scholar, practitioner, leader in one of the industries relative to our doctoral degree program Managerial experience leading teams or individuals and demonstrated record of enhancing instructional quality and promoting student success Able to convey a professional image and effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community as well as in all professional social media profiles such as LinkedIn Experience with doctoral-level education High level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, assess student work and abilities and facilitate the doctoral learning experience Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees and external parties Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students Proven ability to promote student learning success in doctoral studies in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and research Familiarity with adult educational experience and in the retention motivation of adult learners Demonstrable competence in qualitative, quantitative and applied research skills #LI-CB1 University of Phoenix is an Equal Opportunity Employer If you are an active-duty military member seeking employment when off-duty, compliance with Department of Defense Joint Ethics Regulation, 5500-7-R, is required prior to starting employment with University of Phoenix. Pay Range The annual pay range for this position is $65,800 (minimum), $99,400 (midpoint), and $133,000 (maximum).* *Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget. Compensation above the midpoint is generally associated with experienced, long-tenured employees who have demonstrated sustained performance and expertise in the role.
