Walk San Francisco is committed to making the streets safer for pedestrians. The Advocacy Director will lead the advocacy team, focusing on grassroots organizing and community relationships to drive policy change.


Responsibilities

  • Lead Walk SF's Advocacy Team and serve as chief advocacy campaign organizer
  • Grow the grassroots base and deepen community relationships
  • Strengthen the power-base for advocacy efforts
  • Engage more people in Walk SF's work through social media and storytelling
  • Support advocacy campaigns with compelling content, public communications, and policy writing
  • Lead Safe Routes to School work and Walk Audits
  • Support a wide range of Walk SF events from large fundraisers to smaller community meetings
  • Serve as an essential organizer and logistics engine across the Advocacy Team

Skills

  • Experience in constituency development, coalition-building, and community organizing
  • Ability to grow grassroots base and deepen community relationships
  • Strong skills in advocacy campaign organization
  • Experience in engaging audiences through social media
  • Ability to tell compelling stories that shift narratives around traffic safety
  • Experience in public communications and policy writing
  • Ability to use data and systems to support effective communications
  • Experience in hands-on programming, events, and outreach
  • Ability to lead Safe Routes to School work and Walk Audits
