Job Description
An OCC regulated bank is seeking a Director level Consumer Lending Attorney to serve in a key advisory role for the bank. You will serve as a key member of the Bank’s Legal Department, providing strategic legal guidance and regulatory support for consumer lending products and operations.
- Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel on consumer lending laws and regulations, including:
- Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and Regulation Z
- Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Regulation B
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
- Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
- Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
- Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
- Monitor and interpret guidance from regulatory agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and advise business stakeholders on implementation.
- Support responses to regulatory examinations, supervisory inquiries, and enforcement matters.
- Product Development & Business Support
- Advise on the design, launch, and modification of consumer lending products (e.g., credit cards, personal loans, auto loans, home equity lines of credit).
- Review and draft loan agreements, disclosures, marketing materials, policies, and procedures.
- Provide legal risk assessments for new initiatives, fintech partnerships, and digital lending platforms.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Marketing, and Credit teams to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing.
- 10+ years of legal experience in consumer financial services, preferably with a bank, financial institution, or reputable law firm.
