POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director for Member Relations – U.S. East provides day-to-day leadership for institutional engagement, regional relationship management, and student mobility initiatives for ISEP Exchange Member Institutions across the Eastern United States, with direct management responsibilities for Member Institutions in the Midwest and Northeast regions. Reporting to the Director of U.S. Member Relations, this role works collaboratively with member institutions and internal teams to support participation in ISEP Exchange and ISEP Direct programs, strengthen institutional partnerships, and ensure successful program delivery.

The Assistant Director serves as a primary contact for assigned member institutions in the U.S. Midwest and Northeast, focusing on relationship building, recruitment strategies, program management, and maintaining ISEP membership standards. This position also supervises University Relations Managers (URMs) within the U.S. East region, overseeing regional program management and addressing any issues requiring escalation. As part of the leadership role, this position contributes to regional planning, staff training, and cross-functional initiatives that support organizational goals and member satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional Engagement & Institutional Support

Support engagement and partnership strategies for Member Institutions within the U.S. East region.

Develop and implement student recruitment strategy for institutions within specified portfolio to meet defined participant numbers and revenue targets.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with institutional partners to support student mobility, participation growth, and member satisfaction.

Conduct campus visits, virtual meetings, webinars, and presentations to promote ISEP programs and strengthen institutional engagement.

Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development related to Member Relations processes and systems. Coordinate response for customer service issues for U.S. East region, including support of other U.S. East University Relations Managers.

Represent ISEP at conferences, workshops, study abroad fairs, and professional events.

Monitor institutional participation and engagement trends using CRM and reporting tools to support regional planning and outreach efforts.

Supervision & Team Collaboration

Supervise, mentor, and support University Relations Managers (URMs) within the designated region.

Collaborate with internal teams across Member Relations, Student Services, Marketing & Communications, and Affiliate Engagement to support program success and institutional partnerships.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of coordinator workshops, trainings, and regional meetings.

Program Management & Member Experience

Support day-to-day regional program operations to ensure quality service delivery and adherence to ISEP membership standards.

Assist institutions with program processes, issue resolution, and operational questions related to participation in ISEP programs.

Monitor member engagement and satisfaction and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address concerns and support positive outcomes.

Support initiatives that strengthen student experience, institutional engagement, and program effectiveness.

Respond to escalated health and safety concerns in collaboration with institutional partners and internal stakeholders.

Maintain accurate institutional and program information within CRM systems and student-facing platforms.

Additional Responsibilities

Participate in cross-functional projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

Support continuous improvement efforts related to regional engagement, operational processes, and member communications.

Participate in the emergency phone rotation, which may require occasional evening or nontraditional hours.

TRAVEL

This position requires regular travel to member and prospective institutions, conferences, and professional events to support institutional engagement and student recruitment efforts. Travel may increase during peak recruitment and conference seasons and can constitute up to 70% of work time during certain periods.

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree

5–7 years of professional experience in international education, study abroad, student recruitment, higher education administration, or related fields

Experience building and maintaining relationships with higher education stakeholders

Strong verbal, written, presentation, and cross-cultural communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while working collaboratively across teams

Experience using CRM systems, reporting tools, or data to support outreach and decision-making

Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight and non-traditional hours

Demonstrated commitment to intercultural learning, inclusive engagement, and the value of international education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree

Experience working within a U.S. study abroad or international programs office

Experience supervising, mentoring, or training staff

Experience with student advising, counseling, or student support services

Familiarity with Salesforce, Asana, or similar CRM and project management platforms

Experience planning events, trainings, workshops, or student engagement initiatives
