The <strong>Department of Interior Architecture & Design</strong> at La Roche University is currently seeking candidates with a master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field for the full-time position <strong>of Assistant Professor of Interior Architecture & Design</strong>. This position includes teaching, student advising, and active participation in accreditation, assessment, and departmental initiatives. <br><br>Candidates should demonstrate commitment to student success through mentorship, portfolio development, and career preparation, while maintaining engagement with current industry practices and emerging technologies. <br><br><strong>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</strong><ul> <li>Teach a full faculty load of 15 credits per semester (12 credits of instruction and 3 credits of student advising) during fall and spring semesters</li> <li>Deliver engaging instruction in lecture and studio courses, including but are not limited to: <ul> <li>Foundations of Design</li> <li>Interior Architecture & Design studios</li> <li>Lecture courses in design theory or professional practice</li> <li>Digital visualization and technical drawing courses utilizing AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Lumion</li> </ul> </li> <li>Advise and mentor undergraduate students regarding academic progress, course planning, portfolio development, internships, and career pathways</li> <li>Participate in CIDA and NASAD accreditation activities, including documentation, assessment, and program review</li> <li>Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the University Faculty Handbook, including committee work, recruitment and outreach, and participation in department and university events</li> <li>Engage with industry professionals, guest critics, and community partners to support student learning and professional development</li> <li>Represent the University with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to student success</li> <li>Other duties as assigned</li> </ul><strong>Education/Required Qualifications:</strong><ul> <li>Master's degree required in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field</li> <li>NCIDQ certification, or eligibility with active progress toward certification (required by Fall 2028)</li> <li>Strong professional portfolio demonstrating accomplishment in interior design or interior architecture</li> <li>Proficiency in industry-standard design software, including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and/or Lumion</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to teach effectively within a studio-based design curriculum</li> </ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><ul> <li>3-5 years of collegiate teaching experience, preferred</li> <li>Familiarity with CIDA accreditation standards and outcomes-based design education, preferred</li> <li>Experience integrating digital visualization, building systems, sustainable design, or emerging technologies into coursework, preferred</li> <li>Experience mentoring students in portfolio development, internships, and professional preparation, preferred</li> </ul>Application materials should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae/resume, and contact information for at least 3 professional references.
