Job Description
Co-operators is a leading Canadian financial services co-operative committed to sustainability. The Associate Data Governance Specialist will support data management, governance policies, and ensure compliance with data handling standards while contributing to the organization’s data governance efforts.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the data management components related to data assets, data quality, business glossaries, data lineage, metadata, and data catalogs
- Acquire the skills and knowledge of data classification according to company’s recommendations
- Support data sharing request analysis and contribute to the recommendations in order to reduce risk when sharing data outside the organization
- Support the team with creation of data management tools and platforms to ensure they adhere to the organization’s data governance expectations and meet data user needs
- Maintain processes and controls to minimize the risk of data leakage
- Understand the security model in the data & analytics environment to support its maintenance
- Understand Data Policies, Standards, Guidelines and Procedures to best suit the company’s needs and monitor their adherence across the organization to ensure adequate use of data
Skills
- University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Information Architecture, or another related field
- 0-2 years of experience in Data Governance, Business intelligence or related skills
- Experience in classifying, defining, or profiling data
- Knowledge and experience in job-related applications and programming languages (SQL, Python, Microsoft Entra ID, Power BI)
- Knowledge and experience with various governance or data management tools is an asset (e.g.: Alation, Colibra, Purview)
- This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English
- Experience in the insurance or IT industry is an asset
