CoBank is a cooperative bank serving vital industries across rural America, and they are seeking an Associate Paralegal to assist attorneys with corporate and transactional legal work. The role involves drafting legal documents, maintaining legal files, conducting legal research, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities Assists in drafting and reviewing basic legal, loan and collateral documentation, correspondence and opinions Perfects collateral according to state statutes and maintains perfection of collateral to include extensions, amendments, and continuations as needed Orders UCC lien searches for verification and determination of lien position Maintains and organizes legal files and legal electronic database, legal training materials and manuals Assists in documentation preparation for discovery requests and tracks legal proceedings Assists with legal research, including but not limited to cite checking Responds to customer requests related to status updates and details of the transaction after consulting with an attorney.
Internal and external customers include but are not limited to relationship managers, credit analysts, attorneys, and outside counsel Assists in performance of general corporate support functions, as required Performs custodial duties and audits for the note files and other specific types of personal property files held in records Inputs and maintains tracking of collateral and insurance. Updates all internal systems consistently, timely and accurately Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to flood insurance Prepares, updates and manages the transaction checklist timely and accurately throughout the documentation and closing process Takes ownership of pipeline/deals/transactions and assigned banking centers, as appropriate Maintains adherence to bank policies, procedures and controls to ensure consistency and quality Ensures that all conditions precedent/subsequent have been met, that legal checklists are complete in a timely manner as deal progresses and that there is appropriate legal oversight of the transaction.
Updates all internal systems consistently, timely and accurately Skills High school diploma or GED required 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a secured lending practice or law firm Benefits
