About the Position

As a Technical Consultant in the Renewable Studies group, you will function as a subject matter expert working on NEIs most complex projects. This position will have a high level of autonomy and involve leadership, mentoring, and engineering responsibilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment helping with QA/QC and establishing / enforcing best practices and procedures.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $175,000 / year

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Works closely with Technical Directors and the Vice President, acting as a subject matter expert on the most complex projects within the System Studies department
Conducts electrical studies primarily for renewable facilities that encompass more of a system aspect in support of the solar and substation design teams
Creates and develops studies and reports including but not limited to short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic (pre & post), compliance, ampacity, grounding, as well as other related studies and calculations
Conduct review and QA/QC for electrical studies in support of design teams
Provide regulatory compliance services for al project design phases from conceptual design through project testing and commission
Establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices for electrical system studies
Serve as SME’s for study software related questions and troubleshooting
Secondary responsibilities may include checking and/or performing detailed design of all

aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams,

control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable

sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and

Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including

Assists with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and

May occasionally assist with performing equipment, control system, communications,

Maintains a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
Maintains high ethical and professional standards
Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and

graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of

Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines

Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
Experience: 7+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred
Proficiency in power system modeling software such as:
Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil)
System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power)
Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS)
Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF)
Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap)
Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)
Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
Good interpersonal and people skills
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
