About the position
- Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial.
- Defend matters assigned by trial or dispositive hearing as applicable.
- Travel as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
- Requirements
- 0-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Juris Doctor degree.
- Admission to the Virginia Bar.
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Virginia.
- Ability to document files in a clear, concise, professional manner.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts.
- Strong organization, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills.
- Nice-to-haves
- Civil litigation experience.
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
- Ability to communicate professionally in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence.
