Job Description
Palisades Montessori is a neighborhood child development center established in 2013, and we are looking for a new bookkeeper. This is the perfect opportunity for a candidate who already has bookkeeping experience and loves to support small businesses! Palisades Montessori currently enrolls a maximum of 56 students and has annual revenues of approximately $1.2M. The company has 14 staff. Palisades Montessori uses Quickbooks to maintain its records; SurePayroll for its payroll services; and FACTS Management for collecting tuition payments.
Palisades Montessori's bookkeeper is responsible for the following activities on a monthly basis:: • Maintaining the company's file in Quickbooks, including monthly reconciliations and reporting to the owner • Managing receivables and payables • Setting up payments for vendors as requested • Running the bi-weekly payroll • Entering payroll data into Quickbooks from the company's payroll provider • Managing the end-of-year 1099 forms • Communicating with the CPA at tax time

Palisades Montessori uses a tuition management platform called FACTS Management for its tuition. Palisades Montessori's bookkeeper must learn to use this system. The bookkeeper is responsible for tracking all tuition income using FACTS; adding or removing students; and entering data from FACTS into Quickbooks. Candidates should have a passion for small businesses and be meticulous data-keepers who take pride in a clean Quickbooks file, in clear communication, and in timely completion of tasks. Palisades Montessori is located in Washington, DC but this role can be performed remotely.
