Overview
I’m building an independent skateboard brand rooted in self-expression, originality, and skateboarding subculture.
This is not just an art-driven deck brand. The goal is to build a brand that feels like a culture with a strong message and vision — something skaters and creative individuals can genuinely resonate with and relate to.
When I say “storytelling,” I mean story-driven content supported by a clear brand belief system and long-term vision. I want someone who can help turn the brand into something that stands for something — not just sells product.
I’m looking for a strategist who can build the foundation of that.
Social-First Brand Context:
This brand will primarily live and grow on social platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Because of that, it’s critical that the strategist understands how culture forms and spreads online.
I’m not looking for a social media manager — I’m looking for someone who understands:
- How subcultures build identity on platforms like Instagram and TikTok
- How visual trends, editing styles, pacing, and tone influence perception
- How brands become communities — not just accounts
- How to align a strong brand message with platform-native behavior
- How storytelling translates into short-form, culture-driven content
The right person should understand that social media isn’t just distribution — it’s where culture is built, shaped, and signaled.
The goal is to create a brand identity that people don’t just follow — but feel connected to and want to represent.
What I Need Help With:
- Clarifying the brand’s core belief and cultural stance
- Defining mission, vision, and long-term direction
- Positioning the brand within skateboarding and adjacent subcultures
- Developing brand pillars rooted in identity and self-expression
- Establishing a strong, authentic voice
- Creating a narrative framework that supports content, drops, and campaigns
- Turning the brand from “products with art” into a cohesive culture with meaning
Deliverables:

Ideal Candidate:
- Experience building culture-driven lifestyle brands
- Background in skate, streetwear, youth culture, or subculture branding
- Strong understanding of identity-based branding
- Able to articulate brand philosophy clearly
- Thinks long-term, not just campaign-by-campaign
- Portfolio showing strategic thinking (not just visuals)
- Familiarity with skateboarding culture
Bonus:
- Has worked with skateboard brands or adjacent communities
- Experience turning brands into communities
What This Is Not:
- Not a social media manager role
- Not just visual identity design
This is foundational brand work.
Budget:
Open to proposals from experienced strategists.
