Natural Habitat Adventures is currently seeking a driven, positive-attitude, detail-oriented person to join our Operations team as the Camp Chef for Base Camp Greenland, as featured on our East Greenland Arctic Adventure and Iceland & Greenland: A Nordic Discovery programs. This essential role oversees all food preparation and kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional meals and a safe, welcoming experience for our guests in one of the most spectacular and remote corners of the planet. Applicants who are from Nordic countries (citizens of Greenland, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, or Sweden) and are legally authorized to work in Greenland without requiring a work permit are preferred. TIME & SEASONALITY This is a field-based, seasonal contract position full-time from mid-June to mid-September, with some hourly pre-season work required (menu creation, food orders). Base Camp Greenland is located on a remote island with no independent travel options. This role reports to the Camp Manager. While your hours will vary from day to day, it is certain that you will need to work long hours every day (including some very early mornings and late evenings) in order to accomplish our goal of ultimate customer service. RESPONSIBILITIES Create seasonal menus and plan required food quantities during pre-season preparation. Place food and supply orders before and during the season in coordination with the Camp Manager and Greenland Field Operations Specialist. Maintain accurate inventory and expense records. Ensure smooth, efficient daily kitchen operations. Prepare meals for up to 13 guests and 7–8 staff each sitting, delivering high-quality, beautifully presented dishes on time. Accommodate dietary requirements using creativity and resourcefulness, especially when working with limited ingredients and on short notice. Prioritize sustainability in sourcing, preparation, and waste reduction. Collaborate respectfully with staff during food service. Keep all kitchen areas clean and organized, including sanitizing dishes, counters, and floors; train staff on proper dishwashing and sanitizing procedures. Work with the team to wash dishes and maintain cleanliness in shared food spaces. Assist with carrying group luggage and transporting incoming shipments from boats to camp. Maintain proper storage and handling of all food and beverages. Support camp setup and breakdown, including pre- and post-season tasks. Communicate with guests and staff in a friendly, professional, and solution-oriented manner. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Fluency in English; ability to communicate in Danish considered an asset Minimum of three years of professional cooking experience, with strong skills in diverse cooking methods and a passion for high-quality, sustainable food. Experience in the travel industry—especially lodges, expedition ships, or remote settings—preferred. Strong ability to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements within a single sitting. Genuine enthusiasm for delivering exceptional guest service. Ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions, and complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and performing well under pressure. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt creatively to unexpected challenges. High integrity, strong work ethic, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and harmoniously in a remote communal setting for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and comfortably perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and bending throughout the day. Required certifications: Basic First Aid, CPR, and Food Handler’s.
