About the position
- Responsibilities
- Maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Provide constant observation of patients and notify nursing personnel of changes in behavior or status.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors.
- Perform all functions delegated by nursing staff and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Support the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse within the scope of skills verification.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Complete documentation of patient-related tasks.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and effective communication.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
