We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area including PASADENA EYE CENTER. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service. Requirements Summary Objective: The Ophthalmic Medical Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Triaging calls and answering inquires from the call center. Scheduling emergencies appointments as needed. Reassuring and/or educating patients on common conditions that can wait until next available. Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations. Scheduling non-emergent visits according to urgency with attention paid to physiciansโ templates. Answering incoming calls and responding to voicemails Refilling patient medications per electronic pharmacy requests and per patient requests according to SOP Protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information Review charts and reach out to providers as needed to verify or validate orders File prior authorizations as needed. Supervisory Responsibility: Position reports to Lead or Supervisor of Technicians No direct reports Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands: Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. No adverse environmental conditions expected. Position/Type/ Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel: Travel between the South Pinellas offices is required and scheduled at the discretion of the clinical managers. Travel outside the South Pinellas office locations is not required but may be requested depending on clinic needs. Qualifications: Required: Minimal of three years in Ophthalmology Preferred: Certification through JCAHPO Skills and Abilities: Proficiency with standard office software applications (Outlook, Microsoft Office ยฎ) Proficiency with EMR Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multi-task and work across the organization Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Enjoys interacting with patients, techs, and other healthcare professionals Good at coordinating with others to meet collective goals Apply View All Jobs Powered by Payroll & HR Software
