We call our counselors "Coaches" because we believe in a positive growth model for student development. We are seeking a Counselor Manager to in a hybrid leadership role that is equal parts subject matter expert and people leader. In this role, you will lead a dedicated group of our coaching staff to achieve excellence in student outcomes while maintaining a small personal roster of students.

You will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of counseling across the organization—providing mentorship, maintaining critical operational systems, and ensuring every family receives the expert guidance and empathetic support that defines the ESM Prep | College MatchPoint experience. What You’ll Do • People Leadership: Manage a cohort of full- and part-time college coaches, conducting regular 1-on-1s and performance reviews to drive excellence in student outcomes. • Practitioner Excellence: Maintain a personal "

Senior Coach" caseload, guiding students through list building, essay development, and the full application lifecycle.

• Quality Oversight: Review college lists and essays for your team to ensure strategic, "best-in-class" advice that reflects current admissions trends. • Operational Management: Collaborate with sales and leadership to manage counselor capacity, maintain the sales/service matrix, and ensure counselor responsiveness. • Training & Onboarding: Lead the training and shadowing process for all new counselors, ensuring they are fully integrated into team resources and ready for student placement. • Conflict Resolution & Support: Act as a primary escalation point for coaches to help navigate complex family dynamics or high-pressure client situations.

• Data-Driven Performance: Analyze counselor scorecards and milestone achievement data to identify coaching opportunities and ensure the team meets departmental thresholds. • Inter-Departmental Liaison: Partner with Tutoring and Academic Services teams to ensure a holistic "360-degree" experience for families across all Guidewell service lines. • Resource Optimization: Audit and update internal counseling handbooks and templates to streamline workflows and ensure consistent service delivery across the team.

About You • A Seasoned Expert: You have 5+ years of experience in college counseling with a deep understanding of the current admissions landscape. • A Natural Mentor: You have 3+ years of experience leading or mentoring teams, with a knack for building "psychological safety" and team culture in a remote environment. • Efficiency Focused: You are a highly organized planner and experienced project manager who can prioritize effectively and communicate clearly with stakeholders. • Growth-Oriented: You are a nimble leader who stays flexible as service lines evolve, bringing a business mindset to a mission-driven environment.

Requirements • Education Context: 5+ years in US College Counseling; 3+ years in People Management/Mentorship. • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in managing capacity matrices and experience with project management tools (Asana, Airtable, or Notion). • Communication: Exceptional writing skills and a comfortable presence for public-facing webinars and presentations. • Resource Curation:

The ability to turn practitioner knowledge into templates, guides, or training materials for a team. • Flexibility: Ability to manage a flexible schedule (primarily 9:00 am – 5:30 pm), including some evenings and weekend afternoons to meet family needs.
