Job Description
We are looking for a writer / editor who can take a draft and turn it into something that actually connects with people. We aren't looking for dry medical research or spammy SEO filler. We need someone who can bring a real voice to topics like bariatric surgery and the GLP-1 lifestyle. You do not need to be a medical writer. We have a medical reviewer. We are more interested in someone who can write clear, approachable, and conversational content.
The Workflow and Use of AI
We have recorded over 40 hours of podcasts and internal discussions. We use AI as a tool to mine those transcripts, stay organized, and generate logical outlines or rough drafts. This ensures content is in the right ballpark as we are looking to hire someone who can write and connect, not someone who knows a lot about surgery. But the output lacks the human element and the "vibe" that our readers need. We are not looking for SEO content, for someone to just tweak these drafts. We are looking to provide the basic ingredients so a chef (you) can prepare a wonderful meal and not spend your time grocery shopping.
We believe AI has a place in the workflow for organization and speed, but it shouldn't be the final product. We use AI scanning tools on all finished pieces to ensure we are paying for your unique perspective and writing style, not just another layer of machine generated copy. You will also need to ensure points are reinforced with accurate links to reputable sources.
We cannot stress enough that this is not "paraphrase 20% of the AI stuff to make it human."
The expectation is that you use the AI content to familiarize yourself with the topic, and it can be a background reference or inspiration to more research. You use this to write a great article.
What We Need To Know
We are looking to understand your rates so we can scale this project. Please provide your estimated pricing for:
A 1,500 to 2,000 word article (including sourcing) when given an outline or draft to reference.
If youβre comfortable moving between the worlds of surgery and wellness medications and you know how to talk to people weβd love to chat.
The End Client
If we move forward with a contract it will come from the end client's Upwork account. We keep this private during the job posting phase but we will reach out to you if you are a good fit and share their information before hand.
