About the position Responsibilities β’ Analyze and Validate Risk Data: Conduct in-depth reviews of risk management processes, cross-referencing data with business unit personnel to ensure accuracy and reliability. β’ Establish Collection Standards: Formulate and enforce guidelines for Collection and Operation teams, ensuring strict adherence to credit union standards to maintain consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance. β’ Develop Credit Risk Strategies: Design and execute credit risk analyses of loan portfolios to identify potential threats and opportunities, refining origination, account management, and default management strategies. β’ Enhance Risk Models: Apply statistical analysis and modeling to assess current risk management strategies, identifying opportunities for advancement and increased effectiveness. β’ Leverage Predictive Analytics: Utilize industry and custom scorecards to enhance decision-making for origination, exposure, and account management. β’ Deliver Data-Driven Insights: Interpret and present credit risk analyses to senior leadership, ensuring data-backed recommendations drive strategic decisions. β’ Collaborate with Leadership: Partner with executive and senior leadership to refine risk appetite, support credit risk initiatives, and optimize collections and loss mitigation strategies. β’ Lead and Mentor: Guide junior credit risk staff, fostering skill development and knowledge-sharing across the team. β’ Ensure Compliance and Efficiency: Maintain and execute operational audits and management reporting, keeping statistical records as necessary to support transparency and governance. β’ Vendor Partnerships: Collaborate with vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery that aligns with BECU's member-first philosophy. β’ Champion Member Advocacy: Work with internal and external teams to implement programs that enhance employee and member experiences. β’ Drive Process Improvement: Document and refine procedures to ensure ongoing efficiency and effectiveness within areas of responsibility. Requirements β’ Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field or related work experience. β’ Typically requires at least 7 years of related credit risk analytics, collection strategy and/or related field. β’ Experience using quantitative software and database querying tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python). β’ Experience using presentation development software (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, PowerPoint). Nice-to-haves β’ Project management skills. β’ Proven ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to formulate recommendations. β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) with the ability to quickly learn new software. β’ Previous experience in the financial services industry. β’ Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors. β’ Ability to facilitate collaborative decision-making.
