Based in the vibrant community of New Bern, NC, our team blends technical excellence with a passion for service, creating products that bring comfort, convenience, and confidence into everyday lives. If you are an engineer who thrives at the intersection of customer support, packaging science, and continuous improvement, we invite you to explore this rewarding opportunity.

Position Overview

The Customer Service Packaging Engineer will serve as a critical bridge between our customers, product development teams, and supply‑chain operations. In this role you will own the end‑to‑end packaging lifecycle—from design and testing to field support and post‑sale optimization—ensuring that every arenaflex product arrives safely, responsibly, and in a way that exceeds our customers’ expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction & Technical Support: Respond promptly to packaging‑related inquiries, troubleshoot field issues, and provide expert guidance to service technicians, distributors, and end‑users.

  • Packaging Design & Validation: Collaborate with product engineers to develop packaging solutions that protect product integrity, meet regulatory standards, and align with arenaflex’s sustainability targets.

  • Root‑Cause Analysis: Conduct detailed investigations of packaging failures or damage reports, utilizing data analytics, failure‑mode analysis, and field testing to implement corrective actions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead Kaizen projects focused on reducing packaging waste, optimizing material cost, and enhancing logistics efficiency.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Management: Create and maintain comprehensive technical manuals, SOPs, and training materials for internal teams and external partners.

  • Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure all packaging complies with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., ASTM, ISO, REACH) and supports arenaflex’s carbon‑footprint reduction initiatives.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with supply‑chain planners, quality assurance, marketing, and sales to align packaging strategies with product launch timelines and market demands.

  • Field Testing & Validation: Design and execute drop‑test, vibration, and environmental exposure protocols to certify packaging performance under real‑world conditions.

  • Feedback Loop Management: Capture insights from customers and service teams, translate them into actionable design improvements, and communicate outcomes back to stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. A Master’s degree or certification (e.g., Certified Packaging Professional) is a distinct advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in packaging engineering, preferably within consumer electronics, appliances, or a related manufacturing environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD), packaging simulation tools (e.g., LS‑PrePost, Ansys), and statistical analysis packages (Minitab, JMP).

  • * Ability to interpret and apply industry standards such as ASTM D4169, ISTA 2A/2B, and ISO 9001.
  • Customer Service Acumen: Demonstrated success in a technical support role, with strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Expertise in root‑cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA) and a track record of delivering sustainable solutions.

  • Project Management: Experience leading multi‑disciplinary projects, managing timelines, and driving results in fast‑paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Attributes

  • Experience with sustainable packaging materials (recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable options) and knowledge of circular economy principles.

  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles; Green Belt certification is a plus.

  • Hands‑on experience with packaging testing equipment (drop testers, climate chambers, vibration tables).

  • Exposure to global supply‑chain networks and cross‑border regulatory compliance.

  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and external partners.

  • Passion for continuous learning, technology trends, and emerging packaging innovations.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect data, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights.

  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication, capable of producing detailed reports and delivering compelling presentations.

  • Collaboration: Team‑player who thrives in cross‑functional settings and values diverse perspectives.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving market demands.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in documentation, testing procedures, and compliance verification.

  • Leadership Potential: Ability to mentor junior engineers and spearhead initiatives that drive organizational impact.
