About the position AECOM is seeking a Data Analytics and Visualization Manager to support the Chicago Department of Water's multi-billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This is a key position within the Applied Technologies task of the program spearheading a team in transforming engineering/operations/maintenance data into actionable insights for DWM for continuously improving public service. This position will apply data science/engineering techniques combined with a range of visualization dashboards incorporating sound principles for human computer interaction (HCI) system design; and user interface and user experience (UI/UX).

Responsibilities β€’ Support DWM in acquiring proper data; quality assurance of data collected and its management. β€’ Develop, maintain and enhance data pipelines; and support DWM with continuous data usage and transformations. β€’ Develop, maintain and enhance standard operation procedures. β€’ Conduct fit-for-purpose data analytics as required by DWM and provide required interpretations. β€’ Perform complex data analyses to identify trends, patterns and insights using proper data analytics models and algorithms.

β€’ Advance deep learning of functional data using machine learning techniques. β€’ Lead maintenance and enhancements of existing data visualization dashboards and continually create and operationalize these visual tools to bring decision-making agility to DWM operations. β€’ Drive creativity and functional impact of data visualization tools and dashboards using the state-of-the-art HCI design techniques with UI/UX-centric implementation. β€’ Assist DWM with continually transforming their digital utility management with incremental integration of augmented and artificial intelligence.

β€’ Provide technical oversight for implementation of projects. β€’ Coordinates and participates in project presentations to DWM and other external groups. β€’ Monitors/manages project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives. β€’ Supervises technical professionals and guide them on program delivery commitments. β€’ Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary. Requirements β€’ Bachelor's degree in a related field including informatics, data science, computer science, with data analytics and data visualization principles with HCI, UI/UX emphasis and 8+ years of relevant work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

β€’ Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, R, Python and SQL. β€’ Experience in database management and data modeling. Nice-to-haves β€’ Master's degree in related field and/or relevant advance certifications. β€’ 4+ years' experience in leading teams with up to four people. β€’ 6+ years of progressive experience relevant to position description. β€’ Relevant certifications (e.g., bolthires UX Design; HCI certifications from universities). β€’ Proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability.
