<p><strong>Job Title: </strong>Data Entry and Content Review Specialist</p><p><strong>Setup</strong>: Remote (MD, PA, VA, WV)</p><p><strong>Term</strong>: Flexible and Part time</p><p><strong>Contract</strong>: 8 Months (1099 Role)</p><p><strong>Pay ranges:</strong> $13.00 to $15.00 usd/ hour</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role Overview: Data Entry & Content Review Specialist</strong></p><ul><li>Review biomedical journal articles and validate structured metadata within specialized data management systems</li><li>Analyze English-language articles to identify and record research funding acknowledgments (government & private grants)</li><li>Identify and link related citations (errata, retractions, dataset DOIs such as GenBank, Dryad, Figshare)</li><li>Apply correct status indicators and filter non-citable items in compliance with data standards</li><li>Meet productivity targets of ~35 citations per hour while maintaining high accuracy</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Daily Tasks / Scope of Work (Deliverables)</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Metadata Validation:</strong> Review and validate structured metadata from journal articles</li><li><strong>Funding & Grant Identification:</strong> Extract and document funding sources and grant identifiers</li><li><strong>Technical Linking:</strong> Connect related citations and datasets to ensure data integrity</li><li><strong>Classification:</strong> Assign correct citation statuses and filter out non-citable content</li><li><strong>Output Targets:</strong> Maintain productivity of ~35 citations/hour with strong accuracy</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Ideal Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in data annotation, data entry, content moderation, or similar roles</li><li>Strong attention to detail and analytical skills</li><li>Preferred location: MD, PA, VA, WV (due to proximity to Bethesda, MD)</li><li>Minimum education: High school diploma (Bachelorβs preferred)</li><li>Must be US-based and authorized to work in the U.S.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Must pass a <strong>Tier 1 federal background check</strong> (no felony convictions or pending cases)</li><li>Must hold a <strong>REAL ID</strong> (required for federal facility access)</li><li>Willingness to complete a <strong>2+ week badging process</strong></li><li>Must travel <strong>once to Bethesda, Maryland</strong> to obtain official badge (up to $200 reimbursed)</li><li>Must purchase a <strong>PIV card reader</strong> after badging (reimbursed)</li><li>Must provide own <strong>laptop and high-speed internet</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Technical & Professional Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to work with:</li><li>Scientific journal articles</li><li>XML-formatted citations</li><li>Publisher platforms and databases</li><li>Strong English reading comprehension</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision</li><li>Experience in metadata validation or structured data review preferred</li></ul><p><strong>Pre-Engagement / Security Requirements (Mandatory)</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Tier 1 Background Check:</strong> Required for low-risk federal data access</li><li><strong>Fingerprinting:</strong> Mandatory in-person process (~30 days)</li><li><strong>In-Person Credentialing:</strong> Travel to Bethesda, MD for badge collection (required for system access)</li></ul><p><strong>Work Setup & Environment</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Remote Work:</strong> 100% remote (except one-time travel to Bethesda)</li><li><strong>Schedule:</strong> Flexible (system access available 24/7)</li><li><strong>Engagement Type:</strong> Independent contractor (1099)</li><li><strong>Autonomy:</strong> Manage your own workflow while meeting quality and deadlines</li><li><strong>Training:</strong> No formal training; must follow provided documentation</li><li><strong>Quality Control:</strong> Periodic acceptance testing of deliverables</li></ul><p></p>
