About the position We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Data Science Director to join our team. This role will report directly to the leader of the US Employer Precision Underwriting/Pricing Program, a critical segment priority. The Data Science Director will play a pivotal role in advancing the integration of new technologies, including AI and Machine Learning, throughout our Underwriting Quoting Process. You will lead a dynamic team of data scientists and collaborate closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Data & Analytics teams to drive profitable growth and enhance our underwriting and pricing strategies. Responsibilities ā¢ Lead the development of advanced statistical and machine learning models to support underwriting and pricing initiatives , ā¢ Design experiments using innovative modeling techniques and data sources to assess effectiveness at predicting claims costs and other drivers , ā¢ Deepen understanding of client and/or customer-level variability through use of sophisticated modeling techniques , ā¢ Assess existing data infrastructure and influence strategic decision-making around future data investments , ā¢ Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis and business insights , ā¢ Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the data science team , ā¢ Build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders (data science COE, pricing, underwriting, etc.) Requirements ā¢ Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience , ā¢ Proven experience in leading data science teams and managing cross-functional projects , ā¢ Expertise in statistical modeling and machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, boosting algorithms, neural networks, supervised/unsupervised clustering techniques, and graph analytics , ā¢ Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL , ā¢ Experience with data mining architectures, models, protocols, and statistical reporting , ā¢ In-depth knowledge of the healthcare payer space and the ability to bring in an outside perspective , ā¢ Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to perform insightful and actionable quantitative analysis , ā¢ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and navigate within a complex organization , ā¢ Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Nice-to-haves undefined Benefits ā¢ Comprehensive health-related benefits including medical, vision, dental, and well-being and behavioral health programs , ā¢ 401(k) with company match , ā¢ Company paid life insurance , ā¢ Tuition reimbursement , ā¢ Minimum of 18 days of paid time off per year , ā¢ Paid holidays Apply tot his job Apply tot his job
