Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a Data Steward / Analyst to support enterprise data governance and cataloging initiatives. The role involves documenting data systems, improving metadata, and assisting with reporting while providing exposure to data governance and basic analysis. Responsibilities Document data systems, sources, and reports in the enterprise data catalog Capture metadata such as definitions, formats, usage, and sensitivity (e.g., PII) Contribute to data governance efforts by ensuring consistency and accuracy of documentation Perform basic data profiling and validation checks Support senior analysts on simple queries, reporting, or data quality tasks Engage with business stakeholders to gather and validate data definitions Partner with IT teams to understand source systems and data flows Help produce user-friendly documentation to support data literacy efforts Skills Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data/Information Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Curiosity and eagerness to learn about data governance and analytics Familiarity with SQL, reporting, or data visualization and cataloging tools Exposure to data privacy, governance, or compliance concepts Company Overview
