Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Insurance Biller and Verification Specialist with experience in Open Dental. The ideal candidate will handle insurance billing, verification, and claim management with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of CDT codes, dental insurance policies, and proficiency in using Open Dental software to manage patient records and claims.
Key Responsibilities
1. Insurance Billing and Claims Management
Ā Utilize Open Dental software to prepare, submit, and monitor dental insurance claims.
Ā Ensure timely follow-up on unpaid or denied claims, including resubmissions and appeals.
Ā Accurately post insurance payments, write-offs, and adjustments to patient accounts.
Ā Generate monthly reports on claim status and accounts receivable.
2. Insurance Verification
Ā Verify patient insurance coverage, including eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and frequency limitations.
Ā Update Open Dental records with verified insurance details and benefit breakdowns.
Ā Communicate insurance changes or restrictions to patients and team members.
3. Patient Account Management
Ā Educate patients on their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities.
Ā Prepare and distribute patient statements and manage payment plans in Open Dental.
Ā Address patient inquiries regarding claims, balances, and payment processes.
4. Compliance and Reporting
Ā Ensure all claims are coded correctly using CDT codes and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Ā Maintain accurate documentation of insurance verification, claims, and payments.
Ā Provide regular updates to the team on claim statuses and insurance policy changes.
5. Collaboration and Training
Ā Work closely with the front office team to streamline insurance-related processes.
Ā Assist in training team members on Open Dental software and insurance protocols.
Qualifications
Ā Experience: Minimum of 2 years in dental insurance billing and verification, with experience using Open Dental software.
Ā Knowledge: Strong understanding of CDT codes, dental insurance plans, and claim processes.
Ā Skills:
Ā Proficient in Open Dental software.
Ā Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ā Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with high attention to detail.
Ā Problem-solving skills to resolve claim issues effectively.
Ā Compliance: Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
