Position Summary:
- Canadian Solar is seeking a technically minded, strong sales leader for our Residential Energy Storage product: EP Cube.
- This role will lead all sales activities for EP Cube's business in North America in the direct, residential, and distribution channel. The Director will lead, plan, and implement a comprehensive internal and external program that establishes a sustainable customer base, increases revenue and profits, while leading, expanding and modifying the team as needed.
- This is a high-impact role with high visibility. The incumbent will work closely with the executive leadership of EP North America and EP HQ. He/she must be a team leader, able to direct, motivate and develop a capable group of individuals and be a strategic sales and business developer who is highly experienced in the renewables space and in pursuing and closing profitable growth opportunities within the targeted segment (e.g. distributors, dealers, and installers).
- This role provides the chosen candidate the opportunity to shape significantly the success of Canadian Solar's Residential Storage product EP Cube.
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a strong team, enhance relationships with key customers in the distribution channel and drive the acquisition and negotiation of deals in the residential energy storage segment.
- You'll be trusted to uncover new opportunities, drive sales and cement EP Cube as a successful player in the residential storage segment.
- You will be responsible for certain sales territories yourself (distribution and Installer channel in California and Arizona) and manage a team of 6 in other territories and segments.
- Primary/Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow residential energy storage sales in CA & AZ.
- Build and manage a team of six sales professionals.
- Develop and execute sales strategy, budgets, and forecasts.
- Drive key account management.
- Manage full sales cycle and achieve revenue targets.
- Provide accurate reporting and KPI tracking.
- Represent EP Cube in the market and strengthen industry relationships.
- Travel approximately 50% or more within the territory.
- Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strong sales leadership for EP Cube residential and distribution channels.
- Develop and execute sales plans aligned with company goals.
- Set sales budgets, targets, and forecasts.
- Drive strategic targeting of key markets and customers.
- Partner with Marketing to support campaigns and growth strategies.
- Territory Management (California & Arizona)
- Personally manage key accounts and major opportunities in California and Arizona.
- Develop new business relationships with PV distributors and installation companies.
- Strengthen relationships with existing partners to expand revenue.
- Team Leadership
- Build, manage, coach, and motivate a team of six sales professionals.
- Establish clear KPIs and performance expectations.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback.
- Support professional development and training.
- Sales Operations & Forecasting
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and reporting.
- Track pipeline, lead conversion, revenue, and profit performance.
- Use data to monitor individual and team KPIs.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to deal closing.
- Key Account & Contract Management
- Lead major contract negotiations in partnership with technical, legal, and commercial teams.
- Support customers with technical and reliability discussions.
- Ensure strong collaboration with Operations and Planning teams.
- Market Intelligence & Representation
- Collect and share competitive market insights.
- Represent EP Cube at trade shows and industry conferences.
- Promote EP Cube as a leading residential energy storage solution.
- Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years in B2B sales of tangible products that are technical and/or electrical in nature including business development, and key accounts leadership role.
- experience in developing strategic sales plans and initiatives and achieving key sales goals within the solar photovoltaic space.
- Bachelors degree in business management, administration, engineering, supply chain or related a related field is required.
- A graduate degree or MBA would be desirable.
- Must have at least 8 years of B2B sales experience, within the Energy Storage or Battery industry
- Experience leading and mentoring a team of direct reports.
- Entrepreneurial background in a sales capacity.
- High proficiency of MS Office applications and other CRM systems (i.e., Sales Force).
- Proven experience achieving key sales goals, while continually growing the residential energy storage sector.
- Excellent sales-related skills set, including knowledge of the sales process, ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies, enhance comprehensive sales proposals.
- Strong technical aptitude: ability to understand and explain technical solutions to customers.
- Sound understanding of commercial business practices and the ability to align sales activities to support greater organizational objectives.
- Global perspective and awareness, and direct experience working across diverse cultures in a multinational company would be beneficial.
- Excellent business judgment and planning skills, including the ability to assess the reasonableness and likelihood of success of various business alternatives.
- Excellent interpersonal relations with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Enthusiastic individual who can positively interact and collaborate with a diverse group of people at all levels and disciplines.
- An excellent time manager, able to balance multiple projects and prioritize a broad variety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
- A dedicated manager with high ethical standards and values; someone who values personal integrity and honesty.
- Bilingual in languages like Chinese, Mandarin, Spanish or Portuguese and others are a plus, but not required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Canadian Solar offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days. This is a full time position.
The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. This range represents annual base salary only, without regard to location, and does not include the 60% bonus target or other incentives that pay quarterly. Additional benefits that may apply. The pay range for this role is subject to change.
