About the position
- Responsibilities
- Receive and transmit emergency response information via radio and telephone.
- Monitor security cameras and emergency radios.
- Determine urgency or nature of calls and obtain specific details related to calls.
- Properly relay information to DPS units and initiate appropriate responses.
- Maintain the Department Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system with daily data entry.
- Coordinate fire department and/or allied agency police responses.
- Dispatch multiple units during large and fast-paced special events.
- Maintain close and constant contact with units to monitor response and support requirements.
- Use NCIC/CJIS systems and maintain incident call logs or other records.
- Requirements
- Military experience or related police/military experience is desirable.
- Typing certificate demonstrating 40 words per minute (WPM) is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Clerical experience is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize calls and tasks effectively.
