About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated Audio Engineer to join the Consumer Audio Engineering ALab team in Northridge, California. ALab is a new technology development group focused on researching, prototyping, and enabling nextâgeneration audio technologies for future consumer products. This role emphasizes audio DSP, systemâlevel audio development, and applied acoustics, with handsâon involvement in earlyâstage technology exploration and innovation. The ideal candidate is technically curious, eager to learn, and motivated to grow across multiple audio disciplines while contributing to advanced consumer audio solutions. What You Will Do Develop, prototype, and optimize audio DSP algorithms for nextâgeneration consumer audio products. Explore and evaluate new audio technologies, supporting proofâofâconcept development and early platform enablement. Contribute to systemâlevel audio design, including algorithm integration, tuning strategies, and performance evaluation. Collaborate closely with crossâfunctional teams including DSP, hardware, software, acoustics, and product engineering. Apply audio technologies to consumer electronics products such as headphones, speakers, soundbars, and smart audio devices. Perform objective acoustic and electrical measurements as well as subjective listening evaluations. Document algorithms, experimental results, system designs, and technical recommendations. Track emerging trends in audio DSP, acoustics, and AIâenabled audio processing, and assess applicability to future products. Work with global teams and external partners to support technology transition toward productization. What You Need (Required Qualifications) Bachelorâs degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Masterâs degree (MS) is a plus and valued for advanced research or algorithm development. Handsâon development experience with consumer electronics audio products, such as headphones, speakers, soundbars, or similar devices (required). Strong fundamentals in audio signal processing, audio systems, or acoustics. Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with DSP or embedded audio software development. Experience using audio measurement, analysis, or tuning tools (e.g., MATLAB, Audio Precision, SoundCheck, or equivalent). Strong analytical, problemâsolving, and debugging skills. Selfâmotivated with a demonstrated willingness to learn, grow, and expand technical depth. Clear verbal and written communication skills in English. Preferred / Nice to Have Technology concentration or deeper experience in DSP or Acoustics (preferred but not limiting). Experience with headphoneârelated audio technologies (ANC, call processing, EQ, spatial audio, etc.). Familiarity with Bluetooth audio platforms or embedded DSP architectures. AI / machine learning knowledge or handsâon experience, particularly as applied to audio or signal processing (a plus). Experience working with global engineering teams, suppliers, or external development partners. What Makes You Eligible Willingness to travel up to 20% annually. Willingness to work from the Northridge, California office as part of a collaborative engineering team.
