Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – API & Automation Engineering to support daily operational activities for enterprise Technology Architecture & Engineering. This entry-level role involves working on server-side programming, API-driven automation, and foundational platform capabilities, offering an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers to develop their skills in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support Java‑based APIs used to automate infrastructure operations and messaging platform services
- Build Python automation scripts for platform setup, monitoring, configuration, and operational tasks
- Assist in configuring and supporting M2 server environments and infrastructure components
- Contribute to the build‑out of a new automation‑first MQ messaging platform, including setup, testing, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting
- Write, maintain, and run automation used for provisioning, environment validation, and platform health checks
- Participate in the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, using enterprise‑approved tools to deploy, test, and validate platform code and automation
- Support integration of APIs and automation workflows with cloud services and distributed systems
- Follow engineering runbooks, contribute to documentation, and assist with operational improvements
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross‑functional partners to ensure platform stability, compliance, and successful delivery
Skills
- 6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 6+ months of exposure to Java for backend or automation work, including writing basic Java programs for server‑side tasks such as RESTful API calls, JSON handling, and simple service integrations
- 6+ months of experience writing Python scripts for automation, monitoring, or data processing tasks
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) used at least bi‑weekly during a project or internship
- Experience using Git or another version control system, demonstrated through coursework, labs, or projects
- Basic understanding of cloud concepts, such as virtual machines, storage, networking, or platform services (from coursework, cloud labs, or certifications)
- Familiarity with containerization concepts (Docker, Kubernetes) via coursework or hands‑on practice
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including completing lab exercises or certification coursework
- Familiarity with Agile development practices, such as participating in sprints and stand-ups
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including managing email and calendars in Outlook and creating presentations in PowerPoint
- Exposure to AI concepts or tools, demonstrated through coursework, certifications, or projects (e.g., building simple models or using AI APIs)
- Strong communication skills, demonstrated through team projects, ticket documentation, or technical presentations
