Currently, USBP is offering incentives up to $60,000!</p> <p><b>Salary and Benefits:</b> The annual base salary for new Border Patrol Agents varies by grade level: GL-5/GL-7 ranges from $51,632 to $92,219 per year. Agents have access to an array of federal benefits including health, dental, and various insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and eligibility for the Thrift Savings Plan.</p> <ul><li><b>Recruitment Incentive:</b> New Border Patrol Agents can receive up to $20,000 in incentives: $10,000 after completing the Border Patrol Academy, and a further $10,000 for accepting positions in certain priority locations.</li> <li><b>Retention Incentive:</b> Eligible agents can access cumulative incentives of up to $40,000 during their first four years.</li></ul> <p><b>Duty Locations:</b> Successful candidates may be assigned anywhere along the Southwest Border based on operational needs. Relocation may be required, and pay rates vary by location, with potential locality pay increases.</p> <p><b>Duties and Responsibilities:</b> As a Border Patrol Agent, you will join a dedicated workforce committed to protecting the U.S. by:</p> <ul><li>Detecting individuals violating immigration and customs laws.</li><li>Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers.</li><li>Performing thorough checks of farms, buildings, and vehicles.</li><li>Patrolling borders and waterways using various government vehicles, including ATVs and boats.</li></ul> <p><b>Qualifications:</b> To qualify for GL-5, you should meet one of the following:</p> <ol><li>One year of general work experience demonstrating leadership and decision-making in stressful situations.</li><li>A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.</li><li>A combination of general work experience and college education.</li></ol> <p>To qualify for GL-7, one year of specialized work experience is necessary, or a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement.</p> <p><b>Additional Requirements:</b> Candidates must be U.S. Citizens, have resided in the U.S. for three of the last five years, and should be under the age of 40 unless otherwise exempted.
