- *Job Summary**
As a Data Entry Research Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our conservation efforts by researching, entering, and updating data in our rare species database. You will work closely with our team of researchers, technicians, and conservationists to analyze data sources, map locations of rare species using ArcGIS, and quality-check data. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ecological research, GIS, and data management while contributing to the advancement of biological conservation in New Mexico.
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Review documents for relevant data to enter into our rare species database
- Enter data into our databases, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Map locations of rare species using ArcGIS, a powerful geographic information system (GIS) software
- Check previously entered data for accuracy and quality
- Occasionally perform ecology field research tasks under the supervision of senior research technicians
- Perform miscellaneous web and database job-related duties as assigned
- *Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent required; biology background desired; conservation biology preferred
- Knowledge of ArcGIS and databases (i.e., Microsoft Access, SQL) or other data entry software
- Ability to organize and give attention to detail
- Be responsible, self-disciplined, and self-motivated
- *Preferred Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in biology, conservation biology, or a related field
- Experience with data entry, GIS, and database management
- Familiarity with ecological research and conservation principles
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
