Senior Gear Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our crew across all disciplines, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions that enhance team performance and contribute to the creation of high-quality games. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with our Art, Design, and Engineering teams to understand workflow inefficiencies, pain points, and challenges in our development process. Proactively identify areas for improvement and work with the team to generate candidate solutions, weighing tradeoffs given the problem context and development timeline. Implement selected solutions and support the adoption of these solutions by the team, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption. Maintain, extend, and support arenaflex's current set of engine-specific and custom tools, contributing to their development and ensuring they remain effective and efficient.
Build and guide custom asset pipelines, enhancing our development capabilities and streamlining processes. Grow arenaflex's proprietary libraries, tools, and technologies across game engines and platforms, staying abreast of industry trends and technological advancements. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A strong passion for empowering others to do their best work, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with the overall tool lifecycle, including discovering issues, comparing potential solutions, implementing tools, and evaluating their effectiveness.
Enjoyment in working with custom standalone tools and growing tools that can be utilized by many game development disciplines. Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, and Python. The ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment, with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with custom game engines, including Unreal or Unity. JavaScript and web tech experience, with a understanding of how these technologies can be leveraged in game development.
