Job Description
Iris Health is a medical billing company based out of Birmingham, AL. We are looking for an experienced General Surgery coder to work part time or as an independent contractor. This is a work-from-home position. Must be available for regular meetings with physician and billers.
Responsibilities
Ā Pull/review medical records from clinical or hospital EMR
Ā Timely completion of all coding, data/charge entry and abstracting
Ā Obtain missing information from providers and clinical staff members
Ā Ensure revenue capture and generation are at the highest possible level
Ā Review denials/rejections against codes and fix them
Ā Educate clients/physicians on coding guidelines, proper documentation techniques, payer guidelines, prior authorization requirements by phone calls if needed

Requirements
Ā Have minimum of 3 years of experience coding surgeries
Ā Surgery knowledge required; ex: hernia repair, debridement, mastectomy, panniculectomy, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy
Ā Proficient in popular EMR & Excel - eClinicalWorks knowledge is a plus!
Compensation
Ā Hourly rates between $20-30/hour
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 per week
Schedule:
Ā Monday to Friday
Ā Weekends as needed
Experience:
Ā surgery coding: 2 years (Required)
Ā eClinicalWorks: 1 year (Preferred)
