We are seeking an experienced Medical Data Entry Associate to join our coding and compliance team. As a Medical Data Entry Associate, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying assigned codes and sequences, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory requirements, and utilizing web-based tools and coding books to ensure accurate and timely data entry. You will also participate in audits to capture lost charges and gather demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information.
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Review and verify assigned codes and sequences diagnosis and procedures according to regulations
- Contact physicians for clarification of clinical information as appropriate for account type
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding and regulatory requirements
- Utilize web-based tools, coding books, and other available resources to ensure accurate and timely data entry
- Participate in and assist with audits to capture lost charges
- Gather demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information
- Enter and verify the appropriate demographic information, charges, and comments into the computerized billing system
- Perform manual charge entry by gathering demographic, insurance, and healthcare encounter information
- Ensure information entered in the system is done in an accurate and timely manner
- Verify charges on accounts as needed
- *Essential Qualifications**
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- No experience necessary, but prior experience in medical data entry or a related field is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

- Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field, such as health information management or medical coding
