Facility Management Subject Matter Expert — CMMS, Operations & Compliance

🌍 Remote, USA 🎯 Full-time 🕐 Posted Recently

Job Description

We publish practitioner-focused intelligence for facility managers, building operations professionals, and property managers. Our content covers CMMS software (Limble, UpKeep, MaintainX), preventive maintenance programs, OSHA/regulatory compliance, energy management, vendor procurement, and FM career development. We need a real FM practitioner who can review our content for accuracy and provide the practitioner context that purely researched content always misses.

This is not a generalist writing role. We need someone who has managed facilities, run a CMMS, or overseen maintenance operations — and can tell us exactly where our writers are getting it wrong.

YOU'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE

  • 5+ years as a facility manager, building operations manager, or maintenance supervisor
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms (any major system: Limble, UpKeep, MaintainX, IBM Maximo, ServiceChannel, etc.)
  • Familiarity with OSHA facility compliance, preventive maintenance scheduling, or capital planning
  • Experience managing vendors, service contracts, or multi-site operations is a strong plus
  • CFM, FMP, or SFP credential (IFMA) is a plus but not required
  • Comfortable flagging when content oversimplifies real-world FM complexity

YOU'RE NOT A FIT IF

  • Your primary background is content writing, blogging, or SEO — even if you've written about facilities
  • You've researched FM topics but haven't managed a facility or maintenance team
  • You're looking for high-volume or fast-turnaround writing work
  • You have no hands-on experience with CMMS tools or building operations

WHAT THE WORK LOOKS LIKE

  • Review 4–8 articles per month covering CMMS, PM programs, compliance, or FM operations (15–25 min each)
  • Flag inaccuracies, oversimplifications, or missing context that real practitioners would notice
  • Answer follow-up questions from our editorial team about real-world FM workflows
  • Optional: contribute an "FM practitioner perspective" section or sidebar to select articles
  • Your name, title, and background appear as "Reviewed by" on all published content

COMPENSATION & TIME COMMITMENT

Pay based on articles reviewed and original writing contributions

3–5 hours per month. Fully asynchronous. No calls required.
