Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Film Grant Writer to help secure development and production funding for an independent feature film currently in pre-production. This role is specifically for professionals with direct experience writing and winning grants for film, media, or narrative storytelling projects. The ideal candidate understands film-focused funding sources, including state film commissions, arts councils, cultural grants, diversity-focused initiatives, and private film foundations. You will work closely with the producer to shape compelling grant narratives that align with both the creative vision and funding criteria.
This project is a female-led, genre-driven feature film, and we are particularly interested in writers who understand how to position projects for equity, inclusion, and emerging filmmaker opportunities. Responsibilities Research and identify relevant film, arts, and media grants Write and tailor grant proposals, treatments, statements, and supporting materials Adapt project language to meet specific grant requirements Assist with budgets, timelines, and impact statements as needed Track submission deadlines and requirements Revise and refine applications based on feedback Required Experience Proven experience writing successful film or media grant applications Familiarity with U.S.-based film funding sources (state, regional, or national) Strong storytelling and persuasive writing skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Experience working with independent films or low-to-mid budget productions Preferred Qualifications Experience with state film commissions (Utah a plus) Experience with female-led, diversity-focused, or genre projects Understanding of independent film budgets and production structures Deliverables Completed grant applications ready for submission Custom-written materials (not reused templates) Ongoing consultation during the grant submission period Apply tot his job
