About the position
Represent the enterprise-wide perspective and provide guidance to advance The Toro Company’s strategy and interests related to product and packaging regulatory compliance. Provide strategic legal counsel and advice related to domestic and international product and packaging regulatory compliance requirements, including tracking, monitoring, interpreting and analyzing new laws and regulations that affect our global manufacturing enterprise.
- Responsibilities
- Lead TTC compliance across global product regulations, including CPSC reporting, EMC, robotics/wireless regulations, engine emissions, and related international standards.
- Conduct product regulatory reviews to ensure that all products meet regulatory standards and compliance requirements across various markets.
- Track, advocate, advise and educate divisions on product compliance regulations and standards.
- Advocate for TTC in global and North American industry associations (NAM, OPEI, AEM, PRBA), developing TTC’s positions and anticipating regulatory trends impacting TTC products and markets.
- Drive cross-functional engagement with engineering, operations, EHS, product development, and marketing teams to interpret regulatory requirements, integrate compliance, and align strategy with business objectives.
- Oversee regulatory filings, certifications, and market access submissions; direct outside counsel and technical consultants to ensure effective and cost-efficient support.
- Requirements
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and admitted to, or ability to be admitted to, the Minnesota State Bar.
- 3+ years of experience in legal interpretation of product regulatory compliance laws and regulations, within the manufacturing sector
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and possess the emotional intelligence needed to collaborate with others.
- Will need to effectively identify and manage outside counsel relationships and other resources in an efficient and cost-effective manner, assuring budgetary accountability and shareholder value.
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and provide strategic, actionable regulatory guidance.
- Must be able to think strategically and utilize regulatory compliance to advance TTC’s goals, objectives and business interests.
- Solid leadership skills with experience leading other employees and/or project teams.

- Nice-to-haves
- Product regulatory experience with outdoor power equipment and heavy machinery is preferred.
- An engineering background is preferred
