Job Description
Service Line: Product Position Title: GTM Product Specialist Reporting to: Head of Product Location: US Remote — Eastern Time preferred (Central Time considered) About 9Spokes 9Spokes is a New Zealand-based B2B fintech that provides financial institutions (FIs) and fintechs with a white-label platform to help their SMB customers manage their finances in one place. The platform is embedded directly into a bank's digital channels and combines multi-bank account aggregation, cashflow forecasting, merchant data, business app integrations, and a powerful insights engine. We sell to banks and fintechs in the US and UK markets, and we're building the US market now. Why This Role You'll be the US-based product expert for our platform. You won't be managing a dev team or running marketing campaigns — we have that covered. Instead, you'll be in prospect meetings telling the product story, shaping how we position the platform for FI buyers, running competitive intelligence, and feeding what you learn back into our NZ-based product team. This is a small, senior team where you'll work directly with the Head of Product, our US and UK sales teams and the CEO to help build our presence in the US and UK banking markets. Role Overview The GTM Product Specialist will report to the Head of Product and serve as the US-based product expert, focusing on sales engagement, product positioning, competitive intelligence, and go-to-market strategy. This person will understand the platform inside out and articulate its value to FI prospects alongside the sales team, develop clear value stories for different FI personas, and translate northern-hemisphere market requirements back to the NZ-based product team. This will be done in close partnership with sales, marketing, and customer teams, particularly in the US and UK. The ideal candidate brings a mix of product, pre-sales, and market strategy experience, combined with solid knowledge of the US banking landscape, preferably in small business banking. Key Accountabilities Product & Sales Engagement Lead the product contribution to sales cycles, joining key prospect and customer meetings to run discovery, tell the product story, demo workflows, and confidently handle FI-specific objections. Act as product subject-matter expert — understand the platform architecture and integration patterns at a conceptual level, quickly assess feasibility of asks, and translate market needs into structured requirements for the Product team. Represent the roadmap externally and land new features — communicate the roadmap credibly to FIs and ensure releases are launched with FI-aligned messaging, use cases, and supporting enablement. Design FI-relevant solutions and use cases — package what the platform does into workflows and propositions tailored to different FI segments and personas (risk, ops, digital, IT). Market Intelligence & Positioning Track FI market, regulatory and competitive trends — continually scan the landscape and distil what matters for our platform, feeding insights into product decisions and go-to-market plans. Own the FI product narrative and positioning — craft clear, differentiated value propositions that translate features into bank-ready outcomes (risk reduction, control, efficiency, CX) in authentic "bank speak." Contribute to product roadmap — collaborate closely with your NZ-based product teammates, providing market and competitive intelligence, as well as prospect/customer feedback to inform future product iterations. Content & Enablement Own core product sales enablement — work closely with the Content Marketing Specialist to create and maintain decks, battlecards, talk tracks, and other assets that keep the field aligned on positioning and differentiation. (You shape the substance; the content team handles production.) Partnerships Identify and shape strategic partnerships — map the surrounding vendor ecosystem, spot partnership opportunities, and evaluate candidates through a bank's lens (value, risk, security, governance, operational fit). Define joint propositions and co-GTM with partners — design integration concepts and joint value stories, and work with Marketing and partners to deliver collateral for FI buyers. Cross-Functional Alignment Bridge Product, Sales, Marketing and customers — align internal teams and FI stakeholders on goals, timelines and constraints, design phased approaches (pilots, limited scope) and manage the tension between internal pace and governed FI change. Act as an internal FI evangelist and credible senior voice — raise organisational understanding of FI realities and best practice, influence priorities through data and insight, and show up as composed, well-informed and trustworthy in high-stakes forums. Qualifications, Key Skills & Experience S trong working knowledge of the US banking industry required; small business banking experience strongly preferred. Confidence demonstrating software products in sales and customer calls — you're comfortable being the product expert in the room with senior FI stakeholders. 3+ years in a product marketing, solutions marketing, pre-sales, or GTM role within US financial services, including positioning, messaging, and sales enablement. Experience developing ICPs, buyer personas, competitive positioning, and product-market fit stories for software products. Familiarity with the product development lifecycle; able to collaborate with product managers and translate market feedback into clear requirements. Hands-on experience creating sales enablement materials (battlecards, pitch decks, talk tracks, case studies). Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable representing the 9Spokes platform to senior banking audiences. Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, building rapport at all levels of seniority internally and externally. US Eastern Time zone preferred; Central Time zone considered. Security Responsibilities All 9Spokes staff have basic information security responsibilities that relate to the physical and virtual safety and security of 9Spokes-controlled information and must comply with the associated company policies and procedures.
