Role The Head of Consumer PR will lead our global communications strategy, building awareness, driving adoption, and highlighting the people, products, and experiences that make Whatnot the #1 live shopping app in the U.S. and Europe. The ideal candidate is on top of emerging trends, experienced landing earned coverage, and excited to take calculated risks. Consumer PR Strategy: Develop and lead a communications plan that builds awareness and shapes perception across categories while driving understanding of the broader live shopping format. Tell the story of Whatnotâs innovation, from helping sellers build businesses to delivering the best shopping experience. Drive Media Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with consumer, tech, and lifestyle press to build credibility and secure meaningful coverage that reinforces Whatnotâs position as the leader in live shopping. Proactively identify opportunities to insert Whatnot into cultural and industry conversations. Create Standout Moments & Campaigns: Use data storytelling, partnerships, and cultural insights to create moments that spark conversation with key audiences. Launch category studies, consumer trend reports, and narratives around seller and buyer behavior. This role will report to the VP of Communications & Policy. Team members must be within commuting distance of our Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York City hubs. You Curious about who thrives at Whatnot? Deep experience shaping consumer narratives for fastâmoving consumer brands, ideally within tech, entertainment, marketplace, or creatorâdriven industries. Strong media relationships across business, consumer, tech, and lifestyle outlets, both traditional and new. Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, turning data, insights, and launches into compelling stories. Proven track record leading commsâdriven campaigns that drive awareness, adoption, and cultural relevance. Strategic thinker with strong execution skills: you move quickly, stay organized, and deliver impact in a fastâchanging environment. Low ego and high ownership: comfortable getting in the weeds and producing results as part of a small, handsâon team. Curiosity and creativity: look for new ways to tell stories and challenge traditional approaches to PR. Problem solver with strong leadership skills and peopleâmanagement experience.
