Role Overview
The Head of Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing the firm’s fundraising strategy, expanding the investor base, and building long-term relationships with institutional allocators and sophisticated investors.
Working directly with the Founder and Portfolio Manager, this individual will lead all aspects of investor sourcing, relationship development, and fundraising execution, with a primary objective of supporting the firm’s growth from $250 million to $500 million+ in AUM.
Key Responsibilities
- Capital Raising Strategy
- Develop and execute the firm’s fundraising strategy to expand assets under management.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective investors across institutional channels.
- Identify and pursue capital opportunities with family offices, endowments, foundations, RIAs, pensions, and fund-of-funds.
- Coordinate and lead investor meetings, roadshows, and conference participation.
- Investor Relationship Development
- Build long-term relationships with institutional investors and sophisticated allocators.
- Maintain regular engagement with existing investors to support retention and potential additional allocations.
- Manage the investor pipeline and track capital raising progress.
- Investor Pitch & Fundraising Execution
- Lead investor presentations and articulate the firm’s investment strategy, track record, and differentiated approach.
- Partner closely with the Founder/Portfolio Manager during investor meetings and due diligence processes.
- Manage follow-up processes, due diligence requests, and investor onboarding.
- Marketing & Fundraising Materials
- Oversee the development and refinement of fundraising materials including pitch decks, fact sheets, and investor presentations.
- Ensure the firm’s messaging clearly communicates its performance history, investment philosophy, and competitive differentiation.
- Investor Pipeline Management
- Establish and maintain a structured CRM and investor tracking system.
- Monitor fundraising metrics and develop strategies to convert investor interest into allocations.
- Coordinate with legal and compliance to ensure marketing activities adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Qualifications
- 8–15+ years of experience in hedge fund capital raising, investor relations, or institutional sales within alternative asset management.
- Demonstrated track record of raising capital from institutional investors and sophisticated allocators.
- Strong network across family offices, endowments, foundations, pensions, RIAs, and fund-of-funds.
- Deep understanding of equity hedge fund strategies and institutional fundraising processes.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
