Overview
Conexess is exploring the development of a new IT Services–as–a–Service offering designed to support partner healthcare organizations that require compliant access to historical clinical data from legacy electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
As many external partner organizations sunset legacy systems, they still require secure, regulatory-compliant access to archived patient data. Conexess already maintains significant infrastructure and historical data assets that create an opportunity to extend data archiving and related IT services to external partner organizations.
This initiative represents the potential creation of a new service line within Conexess IT Services, focused on delivering scalable technology services to partner health systems and hospitals.
To help shape and operationalize this opportunity, Conexess is seeking a Business Development Consultant to transform the concept into a structured, repeatable service offering.
Role Summary
The Business Development Consultant will lead the design, business case development, and commercialization framework for IT services offering, beginning with data archiving services for partner healthcare organizations.
This role is not focused on operational IT delivery or technical architecture. Instead, it centers on business model development, service definition, and cross-functional alignment needed to launch a new service offering.
The consultant will work closely with IT Strategy leadership, legal, finance, and ministry business development teams to define a scalable model that supports partner organizations while aligning with strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Model Development
- Develop the business plan for a healthcare IT services offering, starting with data archiving.
- Define the minimum viable service offering (MVP) and long-term service roadmap.
- Assess scalability and potential expansion into adjacent IT support services.
- Opportunity Assessment
- Identify and quantify potential partner organizations who may benefit from archiving services.
- Estimate realistic market opportunity and potential growth scenarios.
- Evaluate operational and financial sustainability.
- Internal Discovery & Alignment
- Conduct internal discovery across Conexess to understand:
- Existing informal IT services provided to partners
- Current contracts and legacy pricing models
- Existing infrastructure and service capabilities
- Identify opportunities to standardize and modernize these offerings.
- Service & Operational Framework
- Develop foundational artifacts required to launch the offering, including:
- Service catalog and service definitions
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Contract templates and boilerplate agreements
- Partner with legal to address:
- Business Associate Agreements
- Compliance and liability considerations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- IT Strategy Management Office
- Finance and legal teams
- Ministry and regional business development leaders
- IT and data platform leadership
- Ensure alignment across stakeholders to support the development and launch of the service.

- Not a technical architect or IT delivery role
- Not a traditional quota-based sales position
- Not a standard operational IT role
This is a strategic business-building role focused on creating a new service capability within Conexess's IT organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience
- Background in business development, service commercialization, or strategic partnerships
- Experience within healthcare technology, health systems, or healthcare IT services
- Familiarity with:
- Data platforms or data applications
- Healthcare IT services models
- Enterprise technology partnerships
- Skills & Traits
- Demonstrated ability to build or scale service offerings
- Highly self-directed and entrepreneurial
- Strong ability to navigate large, complex healthcare organizations
- Strategic thinker who can translate ideas into operational service models
- Comfortable working with executive stakeholders across IT, legal, and finance
- Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- MBA or formal business training preferred
