The Director, Clinical Pharmacy monitors drug development pipeline and medical literature while providing clinical support for internal stakeholders. Utilizes broad understanding of managed care and PBM knowledge to develop and/or implement strategies and programs to mitigate cost trend and improve health outcomes.

The Director, HPS Clinical Programs requires a broad understanding of pharmacy, managed care, and patient-centered clinical programs with a focus on improving health outcomes via optimized medication use.

    Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the highest level of enterprise leadership to build a high-performing team, optimize results, and collaborate across Humana's matrixed organization.
  • Utilize broad understanding of pharmacy, managed care, and study design to develop patient-centered clinical programs focused on improving health outcomes via optimized medication use.
  • Deliver new and incremental pharmacy and medical cost trend savings, and work efficiently with resources.
  • Lead clinical program design, vetting, and implementation process.
  • Partner with clinical and business professionals, actuaries, and operations in a team environment.
  • Proactively monitor relevant publicly available news/developments in the pharmaceutical sector to direct relevant clinical program ideation.
  • Foster a long-term vision, elevating the role of the pharmacist within patient care and promote the creation of clinical programs that highlight the value of pharmacist intervention.
  • Continuously invest in both clinical program creation and optimization of existing offerings.
  • Support clinical research integration activities with internal research department.
  • Participate in Humana enterprise committees as appropriate.
  • Partner with Care Management leadership to promote integrated solutions.
    Qualifications
  • Eight years clinical experience in managed care or equivalent experience.
  • Three+ years of leadership experience.
  • Registered pharmacist; Degree of Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • Deep business and financial acumen.
  • Strong track record of driving solutions that achieved clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrates initiative with a results orientation, and is highly resourceful.
  • Experience with effectively coaching, developing, and leading direct reports and cross-functional teams.
  • Complex and innovative problem-solving, analytical, critical, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Organized, attention-to-detail approach with strong tactical execution.
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Impeccable oral and written communication skills.
  • Very disciplined; ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively within a large and complex organizational structure.
  • Ability to engage, educate, influence, and guide matrixed teams at all levels on managing specialty and traditional medications.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, Pharmacoeconomics or health outcomes training.
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
  • Experience in finance and/or business-related pharmacy practice.
  • An understanding of financial analysis and equity research.
  • Experience in health outcomes research.
  • Previous experience in trend analysis.
  • Previous experience in study design.
    Requirements
  • To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service must meet the following criteria: a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps.
  • Employees who live and work from Home in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet business requirements.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
  • While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$168,000 - $231,000 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
