Role Description We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team. Genscience is focused on providing integrated genetic and genomic tools and services with differentiated data and analytical capabilities, creative solutions, and decision-driving insights for drug discovery and development. β’ Develop, maintain, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines using R, Linux, and AWS/HPC environments β’ Integrate, curate, and analyze genetic studies (e.g., GWAS, RVAS, eQTL) β’ Use and extend biological ontologies to support data harmonization and annotation mappings β’ Deploy, scale, and manage computational workflows on AWS/HPC β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific questions into computational approaches β’ Document pipelines, results, and methods in a clear, reproducible manner β’ Collaborate with data engineers & scientists to establish data architectures and ETL β’ Contribute to drug discovery research projects Qualifications β’ Bachelorβs degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience β’ Strong proficiency in R β’ Proficiency in command line scripting and Linux-based environments β’ Demonstrated experience working with genetic studies or other genomic datasets β’ Ability to work remotely with most real-time collaboration on U.S. eastern time β’ Flexibility to participate in at least six in-person meetings each year Requirements β’ M.S. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, computer science, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience β’ Experience working with cloud-based bioinformatics pipelines (e.g., AWS) and pipelining tools (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake) β’ Experience working with large-scale genomic data β’ Knowledge & experience using biomedical/biological ontologies (e.g., MONDO, HPO, EFO) β’ Experience collaborating with a team using version control (Git) β’ Familiarity with SQL, Python, and/or Spark Benefits β’ Part of a small, mission-driven team making big scientific impacts across the drug discovery industry β’ See the direct impact of your work on company milestones, scientific results, and product features β’ Work closely with thoughtful, collaborative teammates who value curiosity, kindness, and transparency β’ Participate in a culture that encourages asking questions, giving feedback, and continuous learning β’ Gain experience with cutting-edge genomic technologies, tools, and cloud-scale data infrastructures Apply tot his job
