Role Description
- We are seeking an experienced Supplier-Customer Quality Liaison to provide temporary coverage for a maternity leave. This role serves as the primary customer-facing quality contact, coordinating quality issues between automotive customers and upstream suppliers. This position focuses on interpreting customer quality concerns, managing containment and material disposition, coordinating supplier corrective actions, and ensuring accurate ERP (SAP) execution.
- Serve as the single point of contact for customer quality issues during the assignment.
- Receive and interpret customer quality concerns such as product failures, sorting requests, line stoppages, and nonconformances.
- Review customer documentation including photos, inspection data, portal submissions, emails, and chargebacks.
- Communicate quality issues clearly to suppliers and review supplier responses, including root cause, containment, and corrective actions.
- Interpret and validate supplier corrective actions to ensure alignment with automotive problem-solving standards, such as 8D.
- Initiate and manage containment actions, including warehouse quarantine, supplier containment, and customer-directed holds.
- Coordinate material disposition, including Return to Vendor (RTV), third-party sorting, scrap, or use as is with approval.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Logistics, Purchasing, and Customer Service/Sales.
- Ensure all containment actions are documented and traceable to a unique quality concern or complaint reference.
- Execute or oversee SAP transactions related to quality events, such as blocked stock, RTVs, credits, scrap, and reclassification.
- Prepare and submit customer corrective action responses through portals or email systems.
- Track open actions to closure and communicate risks and escalations to management.
- Qualifications
- Automotive quality experience in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supply chain environment.
- Direct experience managing customer-facing quality issues.
- Strong understanding of containment, nonconformance handling, and corrective action workflows.
- Experience reviewing and challenging supplier corrective action responses.
- Comfortable coordinating with multiple suppliers, preferably over 20.
- SAP experience strongly preferred, especially in quality stock handling and RTVs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver impact quickly in a temporary role.
- Requirements
- Experience with fasteners or commodity hardware.
- Prior contract or consulting experience.
- Familiarity with customer quality portals and scorecards.
- Experience supporting high severity or line down customer events.
