Job Description
Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is a leading national law firm focused on serving the transaction, advocacy and advisory needs of Canada’s most dynamic business sectors. They are seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Human Resources department, contributing to recruitment, onboarding, employee programs, and special initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive administrative support to the Human Resources department, including the Senior Director of Human Resources, HR Managers, and HR Generalists
- Supporting recruitment efforts by coordinating interviews, scheduling meetings, preparing recruitment materials, and conducting initial telephone screens, as required
- Assisting with the coordination, administration and delivery of the employee onboarding process, ensuring a positive and seamless experience for new hires in our regional offices
- Coordinating the firm’s Mentoring Program for new Legal Assistants, including scheduling, tracking participation, and providing ongoing administrative support
- Supporting the administration of the annual performance evaluation process, including tracking timelines, preparing documentation, and assisting with related communications, as required
- Assisting with the research, development and execution of various HR projects, programs, and initiatives in the support of departmental and firm-wide objectives
- Assisting with the maintenance of HR records and systems with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with internal policies and protocols, as needed
- Working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Human Resources team to support day-to-day operations and longer-term initiatives
- Performing various other administrative duties, as required
Skills
- Post secondary education is required, preferably with a focus on Human Resources or a related field
- Previous experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is considered an asset
- Experience with ADP is considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the confidence and professionalism to interact effectively with firm members at all levels
- Proven judgment, discretion, and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information at all times
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, service-oriented mindset
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also being comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, team-based environment within challenging deadlines
