Job Description

Hello,

I have a small Unity mobile game (Candy Crush–style, purchased from CodeCanyon) and I need help with a few clear and limited tasks.

This is not a large refactor and not a complex system.

The developer can run and play the game to understand the mechanics.

1) Lives / Health System (from scratch)

Please implement a simple lives system, similar to Candy Crush:

Maximum 5 lives

Lives must be visible on every scene

If the player:

fails a level → lose 1 life

exits the level mid-game → lose 1 life

Exit confirmation (in Game scene)

When the player wants to exit the level:

Show a popup:

Text: “Are you sure?”

Broken-heart style popup (simple UI is enough)

Buttons:

Yes → exit to Lobby, lose 1 life

Retry / Continue → close popup

Popup must have an X (close) button on the top-right

Life regeneration

Each life regenerates every 20 minutes

Timer must:

count down visibly

continue across scenes

automatically add 1 life when timer reaches 0

System must persist (PlayerPrefs is enough)

No lives left

If player has 0 lives and wants to play:

Show options:

Buy full lives with coins

Watch an ad to gain 1 life

Coin cost must be:

defined in code (simple variable)

checked before purchase

If coins are enough:

deduct coins

refill all lives

If ad is watched successfully:

add 1 life

2) Safe Area / Notch Support

Add proper Safe Area support for notch / cutout devices

UI must not overlap with:

notch

rounded corners

bottom gesture bar

Game structure should be reviewed so the solution works correctly and cleanly

This should work automatically for different screen sizes

3) UI Bug Fix – Special Items + Settings Button

There is a small but annoying bug:

In the Game scene, there are special items (hammer, horizontal/vertical clear, bomb, etc.)

While a special item is selected:

If the player taps the Settings button, the game does NOT fully pause

While settings popup is open, tapping the board still activates the selected item

This causes the item to be used in a random/unwanted place

The settings popup then closes automatically

Expected behavior:

When Settings popup is open:

All gameplay input must be disabled

Special items must NOT be usable

This bug should be solvable with a simple input blocking solution

Likely a 1–2 line fix

4) Android Back Button / Scene Navigation

Scenes in the game:

Loading

Menu

Lobby

Game

Gamepool

Current behavior:

In Game scene:

Back button already works

Confirmation popup appears

After confirmation, returns to Lobby (this is OK)

Issue:

In Lobby scene:

Pressing back button quits the game immediately

Desired behavior:

When back is pressed in Lobby:

Play the existing Loading scene transition

Then go to Menu scene

In Menu scene:

Back button should show:

“Do you want to exit the game?”

Buttons:

Yes

Continue

Popups can reuse existing UI style.

Additional Notes

Unity version: (to be specified)

Game is small and already functional

Developer is encouraged to run and play the game to understand the mechanics

No major refactor needed

Clean and simple solutions are preferred
