Job Description

NCCI is a trusted source for accurate workers compensation information since 1923. The Insurance Analyst will conduct research and data analysis to calculate experience rating modification factors and resolve data discrepancies while responding to customer inquiries.


Responsibilities

  • You will conduct research and do comprehensive data analysis to accurately calculate and issue experience rating modification factors
  • You will analyze system generated edits to determine resolution with employers’ policy and unit data leveraging internal NCCI systems
  • You will base decisions on regulatory rules and internal processing guidelines
  • You will ensure that multiple, state-specific exceptions to the experience rating calculation are appropriately applied; and ensure experience rating worksheets are distributed to the correct carriers
  • You will engage in a thorough examination and evaluation of intricate business ownership structures, assessing the need to consolidate, transfer, or separate employer claim history
  • You will analyze and resolve anomalies, missing, incomplete, and/or questionable data
  • You will apply judgment and expertise to determine the most appropriate course of action, while adhering to the rules and guidelines of the NCCI Experience Rating Plan Manual and internal procedures, and ensure ownership correspondence is distributed to all appropriate parties
  • You will respond to customer inquiries online, via e-mail, and over the phone

Skills

  • A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in a customer facing, analytical role (industries such as insurance, finance, banking, or similar industries with transferrable skills) or equivalent experience acquired through internships or pertinent educational experience
  • Analytical problem-solving, decision-making skills; solid math skills; an inquisitive and quality mind-set, an ability to make decisions when following procedures and when the process steps are not clearly defined, or the work falls outside the standard procedures using excellent judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent listening and probing ability with the ability to interpret and clarify information being provided by customers
  • Strong organizational, research, multi-tasking, and computer skills
  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in an analytical, customer service position in industries such as insurance, finance, banking, or similar industries with transferable skills
  • General understanding of worker's compensation insurance or insurance industry experience
  • Industry specific coursework or industry designations such as AIS, AU, or CPCU
