Job Description

Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area is focused on serving wealth-creating enterprises in historically excluded low-income communities. The Intake Specialist will be responsible for client intakes, placements, and referrals, as well as data entry and coordinating client access to legal services.


Responsibilities

  • Administer, coordinate, and conduct LSE client intakes and referrals
  • Routinely review and track requests for legal assistance to the LSE program on a timely basis
  • Respond to service-seeker inquiries and direct them to the appropriate resources and referrals
  • Coordinate and conduct intake interviews to ensure the timely processing of intakes with potential clients. Create applicant intake records, conduct thorough conflict checks, and enter accurate intake information in case management system
  • Under the direction of Program Manager and Program Directors, evaluate and designate which applicant intakes to refer and assign to the appropriate program legal services
  • Administer and coordinate LSE’s pro bono placement opportunities and pro bono attorney matching process
  • In collaboration with the Pro Bono Team, facilitate pro bono placement opportunities within LCCRSF’s pro bono attorney network
  • On a regular basis, provide case record details and draft brief case descriptions to support the pro bono client placement process
  • In consultation with the Program Manager, coordinate specialized protocols for commercial lease client matching
  • Maintain and regularly update a centrally accessible document that tracks commercial tenant clients in need of legal assistance and pro bono placement promotion
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients and pro bono attorneys to mitigate any issues that arise in the pro bono matching process and representation
  • Input data consistently to ensure current and accurate information
  • Participate in the auditing of Legal Server data for reporting and case management
  • Collaborate with Program Director, and other responsible parties, to compile and submit periodic grant reports
  • Under Program Director supervision, train staff, law clerks, and volunteers as needed to support core duties and functions and promote professional development opportunities
  • Provide ongoing feedback and contribute to the Economic Justice’s team building, professional development, and collaboration efforts
  • And other duties as assigned by Program Directors

Skills

  • At least one-year work-related experience in a nonprofit or legal setting
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including trauma-informed skills
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral and written)
  • Excellent people skills including patience, flexibility and creativity
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and to improve systems
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to track and meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Prior experience in community organizing or providing community services, especially in low-income communities of color
  • Prior experience working with volunteers
  • Prior experience working on racial and/or economic justice issues
  • Prior experience working with small businesses
  • Prior experience using client management databases, especially Salesforce and LegalServer
