- *Role Overview**
- Mercor is hiring experienced **Investigators and Police Detectives** to contribute to a major AI research initiative focused on simulating real-world criminal justice workflows. In this role, you'll help design and evaluate AI systems that mimic core investigative tasks - triaging cases, analyzing evidence, drafting reports, and coordinating with legal teams.
- *Key Responsibilities**
- Simulate investigative decisions in structured scenarios involving different crimes.
- Evaluate how AI systems analyze evidence, prioritize leads, and generate final case recommendations.
- Review police-report inputs, suspect data, and testimony simulations for procedural accuracy and legal fairness.
- Help develop scoring rubrics for critical steps in an investigation (e.g., probable cause, warrant eligibility, suspect prioritization).
- Flag bias triggers and legally protected variables that could distort AI decision-making.
- Provide structured, written feedback asynchronously to engineering and research teams.
- *Ideal Qualifications**
- 5+ years of law enforcement experience in investigative roles (Detective, Investigator, Special Investigations, etc.).
- Hands-on experience conducting interviews, building cases, managing evidence chains, and testifying in court.
- Deep knowledge of probable cause standards, Miranda procedures, warrant protocols, and ethical investigation practices.
- Experience collaborating with prosecutors, internal affairs, or federal task forces (e.g., DHS, ATF, FBI) is a plus.

- **Commitment:** Part-time, ~20 hours/week
